Solid Academy performance in Tour de l’Eurométropole
The Academy talents sealed a solid performance in 1.HC’s Tour de l’Eurométropole in a field mainly composed of WorldTour and ProContinental teams. The parcour was predominantly flat but a series of short steep climbs made the race hard for all riders, but since the very beginning, the Academy showed the colors as Marten  Kooistra jumped in the break.

The runner-up in the Olympia’s Tour overall was joined on that move by five other riders, and in the first part of the stage, they were allowed up to seven minutes before the bunch picked up the pace. Back in the peloton a massive crash saw Minne Verboom and Cees Bol go down. Both Dutch riders were forced to call it quits because of the crash, but they will be back in the bike in no time.

As the peloton approached the final and decisive part of the race the gap quickly went down, but our Marten Kooistra kept himself in the front group until late in the day. In the end, the race was decided in a reduced 10-man sprint, but behind our, Alberto Dainese took third in the sprint of the bunch which accounted for 13th overall with Jordi Meeus 15th. The Italian sprinted showed once again his class, and in just one week with the Academy, he has already two Top 15 in pro races as well as a win in the Stekene Pro Kermesse.
