After numerous attacks in the first kilometers of the race, a three-man group formed the break of the day. They were allowed a gap of close to five minutes. Our riders remained in the bunch as it went through the last categorized climb of the day. The leading trio was then caught on the descent.
In the closing kilometers, our riders positioned Stephen Williams for the final uphill sprint, but the bunch was sent the wrong way with 100 meters to go. Thanks to a late attack, a rider eventually built a gap and took the win. In the group behind him, our British climber sprinted to fourth.
