The Giro valle d’Aosta 2017 kicked off today with a hard uphill prologue that joined France’s Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc and Saint-Nicolas de Véroce in 8 km. The hilly parcour featured a whole kilometer at a 10% average gradient and almost 400 meters of ascent.
Under a shining sun and blue skies our British climber, Stevie Williams, was the fastest of our men and set the 13th best time overall, just 33 seconds off the the race leader. From now on, the riders will face four tough mountainous stages where it will be very important to remain as a unit and take the most of the teamwork.
We are looking forward to getting the first road stage underway!
