Our guys put on a great performance as today’s test around Vaals was a difficult one. The 15,5 km long time trial went through a hilly circuit which made it a tough one for the riders.
The recently crowned U23 National champion, Julius van den Berg, showed the Dutch stripes and finished his ride in the top spot of the table, only being beaten minutes later by one other rider. The strong Dutchman finished the day with the second fastest time, showing once again his power when riding against the clock. Teammate Edoardo Affini missed out the podium by just three seconds and ended up fourth overall. After a difficult season start due to injuries, we are happy to see Edo back in top positions.
Ide Schelling showed his improvement as a rider and wrapped up a great team performance. Our first year U23 flied on the course and rode himself into a well-deserved eighth position for the day.
In his quest for the GC lead, Adriaan Janssen was the faster of the Top 3 overall, but missed a chance of cutting the gap to the leader. Janssen remains ahead in the young riders classification and moved up to second in the Top Competitie’s ranking.
