“It’s been a dream of mine since I started the sport. I’ve been feeling good on the bike lately and I was really motivated. My plan was just to race my own race, it was a quality field but I couldn’t afford to be intimidated by them. With 30 laps to go was when I started to believe I could win it. From then I left everything out there, and when I crossed the line I couldn’t believe I had won it. It’s a very special victory for me and my family” points out Strong. The multi-talented can look back to a great run in the World Track Championships in Berlin, as he seized another medal day before in the Team Pursuit.
The 19-year old will make his debut with the Academy in the coming days as he in switching his focus to road racing for a couple of months. The strong rider however, has the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in his mind as his biggest goal of the season. “From now my focus switches to the road for a couple month with the SEG Racing Academy in preparation for the Olympics. I’m excited to get going with the team and be part of the Academy environment. I’ll take it each race at a time, but I want to hunt some good results”.
