Today's Dwars door West Vlaanderen marked our first race of the 2018 season. Wind and rain joined the riders since the first kilometers of the day, making the 190 km cobbled parcour between Nieuwpoort and Ichtegem even harder. After a fast start, it was a trio of riders the one who made it up the road with the peloton allowing them up to eight minutes before starting to increase the pace and quickly reducing the time gap. Jordi Meeus joined the team as a trainee last August the 1st and is now set to begin his first complete year with the Academy. Today's 184 km that featured Belgium's Putte Kapellem, were our last racing kilometers of the season. Today's Amersfoort Groeistad Klassieker was the first round of our action packed weekend of one-day races in the Netherlands. Action packed weekend of racing at the Ronde van Midden Nederland

Our guys kicked off an action packed weekend at the Ronde van Midden Nederland yesterday with a 26,7 km long team time trial. The course consisted of two laps around a 13,4 km in a predominantly flat parcour. Our seven man line-up completed the course in just under 30 minutes with an average speed of 52,6 km/h, rolling to the line with the 13th fastest time of the day. It was a hard day on the bike for our 5-man squad in Belgium's GP Stad Zottegem. The Dutch Ronde van de Achterhoek was on the menu for our guys today. The course consisted in a predominantly flat parcour that computed a total of 186,4 km including six laps at the final local circuit that was 8 km long. The day started in a bad way as our Marten Kooistra was forced to withdraw from the race after finding himself involved in a crash. Yesterday's Omloop het Hageland marked the debut of our new trainee, Jordi Meeus. The course presented a mix of cobbles and dust that made the race even tougher for the peloton. Tomorrow's Omloop het Hageland will mark the first ever race of our new trainee, Jordi Meeus, with the SEG Racing Academy kit. We are happy to announce that Jordi Meeus will be part of the team from August 1 on. Jordi has signed a traineeship contract for the rest of the season and a one-year deal for 2018. We were already in contact with Jordi after his last season as junior, being trained by our coach Dries Hollanders.
