In the second day of the European Championships it was turn for the Men's U23 TT race. The riders had to tackled a challenging fast course that computed a total of 31,5 Km around the streets of Herning, and our guys did meet the exceptions.  Our first rider off the ramp was the U23 Dutch Time Trial Champion, Julius van den Berg, who was rocking a customized Koga TeeTee. The strong Dutchman set a fast pace from the very beginning and that effort paid off with a final 15th place for him.  Nine…continue reading →

Team commitment brings Jakobsen to the win in Alsace

Today's stage between Neuf brisach and Dannemarie was the last chance for our riders to show the SEG Racing Academy flag at the Tour de l'Alsace, and what a way to do it.  Shortly into the stage a 5-man breakaway broke clear and the time gap escalated quickly up to five minutes. There was no cooperation in trying to get get the break back, and our guys took the control and responsibility of the bunch as they headed to the second half of the stage. They fully committed to the task, and the gap quickly…continue reading →
Queen stage done and dusted in Alsace

Queen stage done and dusted in Alsace

Today's profile presented a big showdown as it was marked as the queen stage of the Tour de l'Alsace. Eight categorized climbs were compressed in the 160 km long route that the peloton had to face between Neuf-Brisach and Dannemarie. The hilly start was an opportunity for the stage hunters to make their moves, but the bunch did not let the gap go too far and controlled at all times all the attacks and groups that tried to go up the road. That position adopted by the peloton allowed our Julius van den…continue reading →
Great team performance at the Tour de l’Alsace

Great team performance at the Tour de l’Alsace

Today's stage was off to a fast and hectic start as but our riders remained focus at all times. A big 18-man breakaway took off quite early in the day with Julius van den Berg and Jan Maas covering the moves, but bad luck was on the side of the U23 Dutch TT Champion and a flat tyre forced him to stop and being caught by the main group. The peloton didn't allow that big group much room and closed the gap before the special sprint at the 70km point. Once the bunch bridged…continue reading →

Fast day as we get Tour de l’Alsace going

It was a fast an hectic ride around the streets of Sausheim. A flat-out 4,7 km long circuit, which the riders tackled in two teams of three, kicked off the 2017 edition of the Tour de l'Alsace. The local lap had some sharp corners and roundabouts which made today's prologue a tough one to face. The good understanding between Fabio Jakobsen, Julius van den Berg and Edo Affini brought the U23 Dutch TT champion and the Italian rider to 11th and 12th spot on GC, just eleven seconds shy from the stage winner. Moreover,…continue reading →

Fabio takes fifth at Koga Slag om Norg

As expected, the gravel roads of Koga Slag om Norg decided a very hectic day on the bike. The breakaway of the day was quickly formed, and three riders broke away from the back at a very early stage of the day. The peloton allowed them over seven minutes before the they started chasing back. Once the race hit the hardest sections of the race, the bunch started to split into groups, but the great job of Henrik Evensen and Marten Kooistra kept the team well-represented in those echelons. Once the race entered…continue reading →

Strong team performance in the IT Vaals

Our guys put on a great performance as today's test around Vaals was a difficult one. The 15,5 km long time trial went through a hilly circuit which made it a tough one for the riders. The strong Dutchman finished the day with the second fastest time, showing once again his power when riding against the clock. Teammate Edoardo…continue reading →

Fighting until the last day at the Giro

That is wrap for us at the 40th edition of the Giro d'Italia U23. The race was off to a fast start, and it took more than an hour of racing before the breakaway finally went clear. Once again our guys showed great fighting spirit and Julius van den Berg represented the team in the first attacks, but it was Stevie Williams the one who was part of the 16-man group that went up the road. The peloton allowed the leaders up to three minutes and the gap started to fall when they…continue reading →
