Three Top 20 in Bretagne, and Fabio takes eighth in Meerkerk

Stage 5 of Tour de Bretagne featured a very fast start that led the bunch to complete over 47 km during the first hour of racing. Several attacks and breakaway attempts were made but our riders always kept the team well represented by always following the attacks or making the cut to large groups. It took almost 90 km to the 6 man breakaway to go away and they were never seen again. The peloton started a fast chase as they got to the local circuit, but the gap always stayed over the minute. Once in the last lap, Julius van den Berg and Gabriel Cullaigh animated and attacked but they couldn’t distance the peloton. Our guys rode to the line inside the peloton with three riders, Gabriel Cullaigh (14th), Julius van den Berg (17th) and Stevie Williams(19th), inside the Top 20.

Meanwhile in the Netherlands it was a long and hard day for our guys as well at Zuidenveld Tour. Our Fabio Jakobsen was part of an early 10-man breakaway that stayed upfront for most of the day. Part of the of the break members were caught including the U23 national champion, leaving only 5 riders up the road. But an intelligent ride when a lot of attacks went by, allowed him to save energy and sprint take third in the bunch sprint for a final eight place overall.

Great attitude; hopefully this will pay off coming days!
