Thymen Arensman: “In the Academy everything is more serious and professional”
Cyclocross, time trials, punchy climbs… Thymen Arensman can do it all! The 17-year old joined the Academy this winter and he is training ahead of his first season in the U23 ranks “I noticed already in my first weeks with the Academy that everything is a lot more serious and professional, and that will make me a better rider” highlights the Dutch youngster. 

Arensman is having a great winter in the Cyclocross circuit as he finished in seventh place in the last WorldCup round in Zeven in his first year in the U23 category. But that does not change his mindset ahed of his road season, “2018 will be my debut in the category, so my main goal will be to learn as much as possible from the races, the staff and my teammates! One of the main things that I am looking forward to learn is to become more of a professional bike rider and in the Academy I have the right environment to do so”. 

In his last season as a Junior Arensman showed dominance in a variety of terrains, from stage races to time trials, going through one-day classics he was always in the mix for the win, and he wants to keep it that way: “I really like time trialing and before the U23 Dutch nationals I will have more time to train, so in that race that I will try my absolute best! But I won’t focus only on racing against the clock, I want to be a complete rider so I will be working a lot on my climbing as well”.
