10/02/2020
Thymen Arensman is preparing for a very important year in his cycling career and development. The 19-year old will begin his third season in the Academy outfit, but in August 2020 he will join WorldTour’s Team Sunweb. The talented youngster , which in his young journey has already a second place overall in the Tour de l’Avenir, looks back to a solid off-season period in which he combined CX racing and road training.
“I look back to a good off-season period. My time without bike was very short because I wanted to do a short CX-season as preparation for the road. For my built up for the next season I went three times with Team Sunweb to Calpe to train very well, between the camps I used cyclocross to maintain my fitness and that turned out to be a great combination and resulted in some very good testing results”.
Arensman is coming into the 2020 season with a clear mindset not only of the rider that he wants to be by the end of that period, but also on how to approach this year. “My goals for the first part of the season is to be in the best shape as possible and fight for GC in the U23 mountainous races. So, in this second training camp I want to maintain the fitness, improve my endurance and get that last intensity in the legs before the season kick off. This season will be the one of my transition to the professional ranks, so my goal with the Academy is to fine-tune myself for the step up. I know that I am in the right environment to do so, and I will be giving the 110% for myself and for my teammates” points out Thymen.
