We are delighted to announce that Stan van Tricht will join Deceuninck Quick-Step on a two-year deal after impressing the Belgian WorldTour squad during his traineeship. “I’m above the moon to make such a dream come true. I want to show myself from day one and learn a lot from this very successful team” points out van Tricht.
The young Belgian talent put together a very strong 2020 in which he proved his consistency from March to October. Van Tricht put the icing on the cake with a win at Gullegem Koerse during his traineeship with Deceuninck Quick-Step. “The Academy a big share in my development and getting ready for the traineeship. I learned a lot about leading out what I could directly apply in the races where we did a lead-out for Fabio Jakobsen”.
After two seasons in our outfit, van Tricht is now ready to take the next step in his career and within a very competitive environment. “My goal for the first year is to show that I am a valuable rider on a variety of parcours. I also want to discover which races suit me the best so I could work further on these strengths in my second year with the goal of being in the final of big WorldTour races”.
Sven Jonker, Academy Director:
“We are extremely proud to see Stan going from our Academy to one of the biggest teams in the sport. That is yet another proof that our work as a development institute has been done in the right way and following the perfect approach. It has been incredible to see his development since he arrived to the Academy all the way to become one of the most versatile riders at the U23 category”.
