Williams spends the day in the break in the last stage in Alsace
Today’s stage presented the last challenge in the 5-day long Tour d’Alsace. After two hard days in the mountains, today’s profile presented a more flat profile, even though that there were certain sections that had consecutive short steep climbs.  As usual throughout the whole race the stage was off to a fast start and several moves were made from the flag drop.

Finally it was a group of 12 riders who made the cut in the first instance, however, our Stevie Williams alongside five other riders bridged the gap and formed an 18-man breakaway. The peloton allowed the attackers a maximum of five minutes, but even though that they picked up the pace in the closing part of the day, the large group stayed up front and played for the stage glory.

In a hard-fought last kilometers several attacks were made and finally, it was a duo of riders the ones who get a handful of seconds over the chasing group with our Stevie Williams rolling in the Top 10 of the day.

That’s a wrap to our participation in the 2018 edition of the Tour d’Alsace. The Academy will be back in action tomorrow in the Netherlands with Draai van de Kaai.
