One of our new faces of the 2020 roster will be Harrison Wood. The talented British climber will join the Academy after spending his first year in the U23 ranks in France. Wood, who ended up the season with a solid Top 10 ride in the Chrono des Nations U23, looks back to the first team get-together in mid-November. “The team building camp was great. I was maybe a bit nervous to meet everyone but I felt like the whole team really got on well together and I felt welcome by all the riders and staff. We did some really fun activities which was good for learning about each other”.

The talented British rider has a clear mindset on what we wants to achieve while in our development program. “I would like to learn and develop both on and off the bike more as a rider. I also want to become a good stage racer on hilly and mountain races. I will need to learn what it takes to do this and build good foundations before these type of races, but I’m in the right place. I also want to help the team to achieve nice victories next season”

When talking about his desired races for the coming season, the 19-year old wants to see himself riding hard in the Italian alps, specially in the U23 version of the prestigious Giro d’Italia. “I would like to focus on the hardest stage races of the calendar. The team puts across an amazing program so we can develop ourselves to the full extent of our abilities. Next to this, I also want to perform well in one-day races such as Liège-Bastogne-Liège. I really like this “all in for one day” approach and how in the classics you have to race off emotion sometimes”.
